I thoroughly enjoyed taking the Ferranti empowerment online course which covered many topics such as meeting our coach, Amanda Ferranti and explaining what to expect while taking this course and how it will help you to improve as a player and coach. She explains how you can approach steps on how to connect with your player and help guide them on and off the field. She covers topics such as triggers that disrupt players’ performance, which is probably one of my favorite topics that she could have covered because I work in the collegiate field with female soccer players who often have trouble with their performance on the field.
When Amanda would come and conduct a mental skills clinic, you can tell that the team would think about what triggers them and how you can turn a negative situation into a positive solution. The course also covers quick decision making which is extremely important for players to use and also helps us coaches understand the effectiveness of making quick decisions for ourselves in a game-like situation. In this course, self-trust was discussed and also helped me to improve on my own self-trust issues because when I doubt, I don’t express my insight which hurts the players and myself. Recently I have had doubts about whether or not coaching was what I was meant to do because of questions players would ask me on the field when they were playing.
But I realized that there is no right or wrong answer, but to learn from your mistakes and how you can improve your sessions for your players. The videos that Amanda made were very helpful, specific, and concise when I questioned my training sessions and interactions with my players. I used some tools that helped me conduct my sessions at Plainview where players started to think more and get better with their decision-making on the field. I use the Pre-Performance routine ideas where I started to listen to podcasts and mainly, meditation videos to help me coach before my sessions. I am known to have anxiety but ever since then, following that routine has made me less anxious where I set goals for myself that I expect when I coach a session and goals for the team during each practice session. Ever since I started to do that, my team started to perform better and have been on the same page where if they are confused, they ask questions, or if there are any doubts that they have as a player, they voice them without judgment.
I hope whoever reads my testimonial that they do take the Ferranti empowerment online course if they want to see changes as a coach and for their team. As a coach, I got a better understanding and insight into how I should be coaching, organizing my training sessions and most importantly, having fun with the process.
